Set in an innocuous alley in Ho Chi Minh City’s Phu Nhuan is a little gem of an eatery. Run by Charlie, a talkative Viet Khieu from California, the joint offers straight up Americana cuisine. It’s no frills dining and where the food is the star of the show.
I’ve been there a few times and the place hasn’t disappointed. So far, we’ve had the burgers, chicken wings and most of the Mexican items on the menu. Their wings are impressive and cheap with a pack of 10 running around VND155,000. The burgers aren’t as big as Black Cat’s but the bun is far superior which makes for a more complete package. Everything else has been stellar with the exception of a lone Mexican Pizza which has a sweeter than expected barbecue sauce. Definitely get an order of fries. Twice fried, they come with a choice of four dipping sauces.
THE RUN DOWN: Reasonably priced no-frills Americana fare. Expect to pay about VND90,000-VND150,000 for a meal (without libations).
